I was freaking out on the Symphony Nitris trying to do this, when I realized there is no Automation Gain Tool on that system.

On the Symphony Nitris, you just set an in and out in the timeline, select any keyframe, and then the delete key.

I would be interested in how they were able to read them without one of the codecs I mentioned installed. The Apple Uncompressed 8 and 10 bit codecs are installed only by Final Cut Pro and are not available for PC. Do your PC compression guys have a capture card of any kind?

The Apple Uncompressed Codecs are also unavailble for PC but you can use the AJA or Blackmagic codecs. Just install them on both the Mac and PC. They are functionally equivalent to the Apple Uncompressed Codecs.

No standard (non-third party) codecs support an alpha channel, except the Animation codec.

Sheer, Microcosm are not free, but do support alphas. FCP does not support realtime effects for these codecs though. Avid codec is free, supports an alpha, but is problematic within FCP for many users.

First try trashing your preferences. If that doesnt help, it might be a corrupt render or media file.
Try to export pieces of your sequence, using in and out points, until you figure out what it causing it.

Are your Audio Output settings in your Sequence Settings set to Stereo (default) or 4 channel?
