Export your sequence as XML.

1)Open readXML
2)Check Process Filters
3)Load your XML
4) In the Window menu, open the Filter Window
5) Select the filter you are looking for in the pulldown menu

This will give you a list of the clips that use this filter. You can use the search in FCP to find these clips and disable the filter.

FCP and Motion can import Acrobat PDF’s just fine. No need to convert anything.

I would bring it into Motion if you need to mask around the logo, as the masking tools are more robust.

Not exactly. But you can export the sequence as XML, then open in Text Edit.
Use the Find feature in Text Edit to search for each instance, and delete it.
When finished, import the XML back into FCP and your filters will be gone.
I just did it on a short test sequence and it worked perfectly.

No, not exactly. Not to the level of what you are used to with the 844/x, anyway. FCP is a software based system. You can get 3rd party capture cards, but they do not add realtime capability. Its all based on the host computer and your drive array. It can do much of what you suggest in realtime but when you start combining and keyframing effects, your milage may vary depending on your system specs. It will not be realtime all the time, as the 844/x is performing that magic with hardware.

No issues you need to be aware of. It’s a compressed format, but an excellent one. DV50 (aka DVCPRO 50) was designed as a competitor to Digital Betacam, and gives you similar performance. You should get lots of realtime effects with DV50.
Its much higher quality than DV25, as it uses 4:2:2 color space, unlike DV25 (Mini DV, DVCAM), which uses 4:1:1.
Not as good as uncompressed, but hard to tell the difference in many instances.

Use DV50. Its very high quality and will approximately triple your storage space. Many people use this for online quality. If thats still not reducing your file size enough, you can go to DV25 (known as DV/DVCPRO NTSC).

You will need at least 5.1 for any further upgrades.
5.1 has improvements across the board, including fixes to the Media Manager and Realtime Scopes. More fixes and enhancements are on Apples website.

Wait until your projects are finished before upgrading.
Get yourself a firewire drive…They are super cheap these days. Clone your hard drive to it. Then you can always go back if you have a problem.

However if you are perfectly happy where you are and have no interest in further upgrades, then stay with what you have.

I guess you will have to wait until Avid comes out with an Intel compatible codec. They should have something available soon. Probably around NAB, in April, if not sooner.
Or find someone with a G5 who can do it for you.

Or do them one at a time in Quicktime Pro, which you state does work using Rosetta.
