Are you attempting to do this to a completely blank tape or have you blacked and coded the first ten seconds or so (as you should)? You can’t do an assemble or insert edit with a completely blank tape.

As the others have stated, there should be no issues using the DVCPRO HD codec edit to an HDCAM tape. It’s done all the time.

Avid Quicktimes do not carry timecode.

Did you just make your own preset for this? this is not a standard frame size. you won’t get any realtime with non-standard frame sizes.

Are you using FCP’s Make Offline function, or just deleting in the Finder?

If you don’t use Make Offline, you might get that error because versions of your project in the Autosave Vault, and in the undo cache can still point to the file (Closing the program gets around that).

If you would prefer a card over the AJA io, just look at the AJA Kona series (the LH and LS do analog).

There is no quality difference with the Kona over the iO, so honestly, I see no reason to spend any more money. Just use the iO. It’s actually a much more higher quality and versatile piece of equipment than the Avid Mojo.

If you are looking for something that will work with both Avid Xpress and FCP, it does not exist. Avid will not allow that.

You could play around all day with Space Designer in Soundtrack Pro. With a little EQ you can get it to sound pretty good…

Or you can just have someone with a deep voice speak into a glass (not joking)
