Hi, i need to bring a simple sequence from Avid into FCP. I understand I have to export an EDL from Avid, but can I also export the media from Avid into quicktime files readable by FCP or will I have to recapture it from the EDL sequence in FCP?
    Thanks a bunch

    You need to recapture.
Avid Quicktimes do not carry timecode.

    Good luck.

If you can’t recapture, there is a tool that will take timecode from an Avid ALE file, and place that timecode to Quicktime files (which are named identically to their names in the ALE).

This is part of Sebsky tools, and I used it a few years ago. It’s called batch add timecode.
