Search for “Merged Clip” in FCP help.

What I meant to add was that Avid can do it at Full Output Quality…not just preview.

[Kevin Monahan] ” ProRes 4:4:4:4 can play back in the timeline with Dynamic RT enabled. Very nice.
    “

Great that it works in Dynamic RT, but Avid’s been able to do multiple layers of RT alpha keying for years….even on Mac hardware! This limitation is deadly on a sports show with lots of graphics.

AJA Kona gets the best reviews overall. Blackmagic Decklink and Matrox MXO 2 also have their fans.
They all can downconvert. None of them speed up effects rendering.

Was really hoping real-time keying of alpha graphics would become part of RTExtreme.
Having to render even simple lower thirds is a killer on a graphic intensive sports show. It’s crazy we that we can do many streams of video but can’t key in real time. Avid’s been able to do this for years.

I think you are looking for Quick View on the tool bench.

Some older cards did effect processing. None available now do, as computer processors have become so powerful, its kind of an obsolete function. Just ignore it.

Try using the time stretch function in Soundtrack Pro to match the duration.

Normally there should not be a duration difference. How was you conversion done?

The kona adds pulldown to a 23.98 sequence not a 29.97 sequence with 23.98 footage in it.

This has been happening for ages on Symphony Nitris.

My workaround is to put a keyframe on the audio track (make automation visible). This “wakes up” the audio mixer with a keystroke.
