I take it you mean ProRes 422 and not RS-422′ which is a serial data protocol used for Deck control.
What are the specs of the system you inherited?

I ran into similar headaches on an Avid job with Alexa .
Transoding to DNX 145 would fail with strange error messages. I was theorizing that there was a bad frame at the end of the clip, as there was a Media Offline slate showing at the end.
Try using Compressor for your transcode and set an outpoint prior to the end of the clip and see if you can transcode it.

Go to your Media Creation settings. If your renders are set to something higher Res than DNX 185, that could be the problem.

Spotlight is indexing your drive.

View what you did on a real video monitor, not a computer screen to judge any compression or field related artifacts.
Normally, it’s best to use the included Boris plugin or Motion to create a rolling title. Making a large file in photoshop will subject you to FCP’s scaling, which is not great.

The choice of drop/non drop should not normally affect sync in DVDSP … But I am glad it’s working for you now.

DVD SP is showing your audio in Non drop frame and your video in drop. You can change this in DVDSP, but I usually do not bother.

Good catch DRW. Ones with 8 external ports are rare. I actually thought that one had 4 internal and 4 external.
For such cards you can get an inexpensive backplane adapter that connects to the internal ports. You lose a PCI slot, of course, but you can use all the ports, both internal and external.

It sounds like he is not using a port multiplier chassis and has separate connections for each drive in the array.
These are much faster than the more common port multiplier units. I have a Sonnet 4 port card for this purpose, but I believe they do not have an 8 port model.I think Highpoint makes a RocketRaid 8 port model.
