[Richard Sanchez] “‘ve seen instances where part of your tape is NDF and another part is DF. However, if you insert the tape and it starts spooling over NDF it will give you the warning. If you manually shuttle the tape the timecode of the clip you’re looking for, and then batch capture, it will start spooling over all DF timecode and you should be good.
“That works with tape…but he’s using XDCAM discs.
Maybe try capturing using the XDCAM deck in machine control mode.

I’m still trying to figure out why the current version of Avid is 6.01 when about 9 or 10 years ago I was using v11.

I think AMA in v5 will see anything that you have the Quicktime codec for, but if you want to do anything more than look at it, you should transcode to DNX immediately (or an Avid SD resolution if its not HD).
Performance will be bad. Native support starts in v6.

So what we did was just modify>set drop-nondrop>nondrop, so the appendage is now .NDF on the tape name. Then batch captured those clips.
“It sounds like you have a mix of drop and non drop on the same disc.
If you have the storage space, I would recapture the the discs you are having problems with, in their entirety.
In theory, if you do that, it should handle the timecode the same way that was done in offline….which hopefully will take care of the problem. Otherwise, you are going to have to go through your offline cut and and try to find which clips are drop and which are non drop.
Hoping someone else has some ideas….because I am out of them. Hope you are not stuck eye matching everything.

The Gamer community has just realized that the latest driver update on Nvidia’s site allows pretty much all Nvidia cards (even PC only versions) to work in a Mac. No EFI, so no Mac boot screen, but it works without any hacks at all. Apparently, there is greater support for high end cards in the Mountain Lion Developer Preview, as well.

Fair enough…..
But if it keeps a facility an all Mac shop….often a post house or facility will also have MacBook Pros, iMacs, etc. in addition to their MacPros….and spares Apple having to build an unprofitable line of machines..they might consider it. If fact, I am sure they are, at least looking at it.
They get a licensing fee from HP…the video/film pros get a pro workstation running OSX, and Apple doesn’t have to build, sell and support machines that don’t make them much money.
I don’t think this will be like the old Power Computing, UMAX clones of old. This will be strictly controlled by EFI. Only, high end workstation and server configurations available.
Again…they dropped “Mac” for a reason. I don’t buy that it has anything to do with iOS.

You know I don’t think they dropped “Mac” from Mac OSX just to stick an “i” in front of it in the future.

Kind of defeats the point of offline/online, but as a test….can you capture one of the problem disks completely and see if the problem goes away?
Drop/non drop should not make a difference in offline/online, provided the timecode flavor is read correctly in both offline and online.

Will need way more info on your hardware and software to even begin… But as a quick thing to try…create a new user profile…does the problem persist?
