If you don’t want to purchase BCC 8, I believe the same Unsharp Mask filter is included in Avid FX (aka Boris Red), which is included free.

I don’t think you are supposed to convert the frame rate at all. 23.98 is in the DVD spec.
In the NTSC world, you generally leave the asset at 23.98. The DVD player adds 3:2 pulldown for old style tvs. Flat screen televisions handle 23.98 progressive with an HDMI equipped DVD player. No pulldown necessary. That is how most “Hollywood” movies are done.
In the PAL world, DVD movies are sped up 4% by the DVD player instead of adding pulldown. Newer flat screen tv’s handle 23.98 or 24 over HDMI, just like in the US.

It’s a bug thats been talked about here and on the official avid forums.
Seems to affect Blackmagic and Matrox, but not AJA.
I haven’t tried the release of BM Desktop Video 9.2, as the betas had a horrible bug where video would cut out switching from source to record (or the reverse). The release notes make no mention of these issues being corrected. I did write Kristian Lam at BMD about it, so I do believe they are aware of the issues.
I only have the scrubbing issue when there is no associated video…such as an imported music track or bwf file. I can work around it by linking it to some random video in a group clip, but it’s damn annoying.
I hope it’s been escalated. I don’t want to switch to AJA, as I also want to use Davinci Resolve.

No problem, as long as you are not using any effects that have been updated in v6. Avid Pan and Zoom and Avid FX (aka Boris Red) may give you trouble.
Straight up cuts will work fine. -
MC 6 will run on all Mac Pros, including the Mac Pro 1,1, which was released in 2006.
This machine is not supported, but it runs fine. You can’t use DX hardware with this machine, as DX hardware requires the 64 bit kernel. You can use 3rd party I/O or software mode.

FCS 3 runs fine in lion.
I believe Live Type was not in FCS 3, it was discontinued after FCS 2, though if you had it installed FCS 3 would leave it in place and it could still be used.
The Lion install might delete the Live Type QuickTime Component. Not sure… It might be PPC code. Lion does not have Rosetta for PPC compatibility. -

I don’t I have first hand knowledge but I have heard that AJA does not have these issues, only Blackmagic and Matrox.

I have the Decklink Studio 2. Performance is generally very good with driver 9.0…I have had problems with 9.1 and 9.2, that render it unusable to me. Even with 9.0, there is an annoying bug…I get a crash with audio only files loaded into the source monitor with scrubbing turned on (caps lock).
