No problem, as long as you are not using any effects that have been updated in v6. Avid Pan and Zoom and Avid FX (aka Boris Red) may give you trouble.
Straight up cuts will work fine.

MC does a great job of having bin/media compatibility. Just make sure it’s a different user (don’t transfer the user across versions.) But yes, more than cuts come across.
