March 18, 2012 at 10:04 pmI’ll contact Avid customer support tomorrow, but if anyone has a clue about what I can do today, I would appreciate it. Here’s the deal: I just upgraded my 17″ Macbook Pro to the current model. I used migration to bring programs over, and then I did an uninstall of Media Composer and then a fresh install. When I use the License tool, to try to change machines, I get the message: Avid License Control was not initialized properly. I also get this message if I try to boot the software and choose the license option. If I try to boot using 30 day free trial, I just get bounced out with an error saying trial failed. Any ideas?

Thanks, John. I always repair permissions as part of any such process, but I guess I should have mentioned it. All better, though. The answer was to hand delete a group of files and folders that uninstall does not take away with it. Did a clean install and everything was rosy.

“You bet. Here’s a link to a post of Shane’s from another thread. I did not run any of the “sudo”s. I simply deleted the folders and files mentioned in the second half.
