If you still have access to FCP 7, open the problem file in Cinema Tools and conform it to the proper frame rate…since it already is that frame rate, all it will really do is fix the corrupt metadata, and will take about a second. should work fine after that..hopefully.

Did you uninstall the old driver first using the provided Uninstaller?

HD and SD captioning are completely different animals. Not saying its impossible but it would be very, very difficult to implement what you suggest.

You may not need to do that. Just ingest the footage in projects that match their frame rate/size. Then open your 1080p project. Now, using the open bin command, open the bins of 720p footage and edit them into your timeline. Avid will apply a motion adapter which will handle the conversion.

You are probably going to have to come clean to your client. Nothing is going to fix that to the level of what is expected in a wedding video. Thats the painful truth. Sharpening filters will help slight focus issues, but if it’s bad, there is not enough resolution in the image to bring out any detail, especially in SD. I know on Law and Order, the forensics guy makes a few keystrokes and suddenly the video is crisp and clear…but that is fiction, i am afraid. Plus, the aesthetics of security cam video are quite different than for a wedding.

I’d transcode. H264 will perform poorly on many systems. You might get away with a few shots here and there, but overall, its still best to transcode H264. You’ll do fine with other codecs, like XDCAM HD.

Select the resolution of your choice in the Media Creation Settings next time. To fix it, set an in and out around your entire sequence and select “Recreate Title Media” in the Clip menu. You should get a dialog where you can select a new resolution.

No such thing as “video type” for a sequence. Avid can have many resolutions and codecs in one sequence. You must, however, pay attention to what you have selected in the format tab of the project window. This is where your frame size and frame rate are determined for the entire project. Note that you can change it as needed.

These are not uinique issues to Mountain Lion. They are issues with editing with AMA. Working native Avid media is much more reliable. AMA should really be for just previeiwing before transcode or quick, non complex editing, IMHO.
