Hey gang…so going to use the CPC HD Enterprise solution to CC a HD show…we also need to output a SD version as well. I don’t see anything that says the Nitris will strip the CC out and insert it into line 21 on a SD downconvert…whats the best practice to do this? Should we make a SD CC file as well then output it totally seperate? Not sure about this one. Any info much appreciated!

    thanks

It would be wonderful if the Nitris DX would downconvert the closed captioning as well but alas, it does not. In fact, you’ll lose the HD CC output out of the Nitris if you have the simultaneous down convert turned on. You have to make an SD closed caption file and output the SD separately. Alternatively an AJA FS2 would do that for you as well from the HD SDI output.

    Hope this helps.

HD and SD captioning are completely different animals. Not saying its impossible but it would be very, very difficult to implement what you suggest.
