Rendering the 29.97 stuff should help.
Most systems can do reasonably well with that conversion in real time. Kind of surprised you are having issues, unless your sequence already has lots of RT effects.

“We had these lags until it was discovered that the Mac Pros we booting in 32 bit mode. Just a thought.”
It would be impossible to boot in 32 bit mode using Mountain Lion, as it has no 32 bit kernel and cannot run in 32 bit mode.
Earlier versions of MacOSX, it is possible. Less likely with Lion, as it normally defaults to the 64 bit kernel, unless you are on hardware that can’t use it…such as a Mac Pro 1,1 or 2,1.
If you are using a Mac Pro 1,1 or 2,1, you are incapable of running the 64 bit kernel without extreme hackery, as the computer only has 32 bit EFI.

Honestly, Automatic Duck has been End of Lifed for quite awhile now. Really hard to debug what’s going on, as there are a lot of variables. Unfortunately, since its been discontinued, you won’t get any support from the defunct company that created it.
Maybe download the trial for Boris’s product that does much the same thing. At least they are still updating and supporting the product.
The trial is free and fully functional. Maybe it will work better for you,

If there is a mix of media types and frame rates, consolidate/transcode may not work completely on the first pass.
Select “skip media already on the target drive” try again. To check to see if you completely have new media, take the original media drive offline and see if anything in the sequence is offline—if there is , this means there are still clips referencing the original media. Do this before doing anything with Automatic Duck. -
There is no Adobe driver. That’s only for AJA.
Desktop Video is all you need. That is the Blackmagic Driver Package.Your problem lies elsewhere.

No. That’s not an analog to digital converter.
It just is an adapter between Two types of AES audio connections (BNC and XLR).

Anyone who would know would be under NDA and couldn’t talk about it .
If I were in a position to wait, I would.
If you need to edit now, download the trial. It’s good for thirty days, fully functional.

AMA will definitely slow your performance. It’s better for choosing selects rather than editing.
There is no reason to edit AMA with ProRes or Avid DNX QuickTime files. Just consolidate them and the will become Avid MXF media with no quality loss (just rewrap) and its fast.
Avid does not make great use of the GPU on Macs, so that’s probably not the issue,
If you have a RAID enclosure, why work with just 1 drive? Drives are cheap and a RAID will increase your performance on any platform.
I will say that I got rid of my Sonnet E4P because I was having performance issues. Using a Firmtek card now and it’s behaving much better.
Forget about what worked in FCP7. Apples and oranges. Avid does some stuff In real time that FCP couldn’t and FCP does some other things better.

I believe the MacBook Air uses Intel Integrated Graphics instead of a traditional graphics card (Nvidia or AMD).
Not sure FCP will like that…Premiere definitely won’t care for itMac, as the Mercury Engine requires specific graphics cards to work.
MacBook Pro would be a better choice.

Thanks Paddy,
I don’t think I ever used 6.0 much in production (fear of point-0 releases). That explains why I never encountered it.
