Hmm. I do this all the time on both 6.0.3 and 6.5.2.
No problems. Any strange character names? Permissions issues?

Either someone prelogged it and was batch capturing, or there were camera stops.

Are you talking about the type of drive or the drive format….??
Macs use MacOS Extended, PC’s use NTFS.
If you want to use one drive for both Mac and PC you will have to get Paragon NTFS for Mac or MacDrive for the PC.
Either option may present some issues when editing with Avid, unfortunately. They are fine for file transfer between platforms, but with editing I have seen stability issues and quirky behavior.
Maybe someone who has had more success will chime in.
You could also format the drive ExFAT, which is cross platform. However, there is some risk, as it not as robust and more prone to data loss (so I have read, anyway).

There is no equivalent, you need to give the client what he asked for…His playback system may only support Pro Res. Do you have software that can encode to Pro Res? If on a Mac, you can purchase Compressor for $50. There are a couple of options for PC.
Or you can ask the client if they can accept something else. Avid DNXHD 220 would be very similar and you can download and install the codec for free. However, it does no good if its not what the client can use,

“I think it also depends on your default panning settings. If you are set to Alternating L/R, ALT-clicking the pan slider seems to set it to L or R. If you are set to All Tracks centered, ALT-clicking sets it back to 0”
Yeah. I hate that behavior. I would think Alt clicking would make more sense to do the opposite of the default….as all your clips would normally already be in that position. Alt-Clicking would do nothing in most cases. Maybe a good compromise would be Shift-Alt to do the opposite of the default.

Nope. That’s it.
It’s been a source of much discussion and complaint…that along with the increased size of the mixer (and inability to resize), as well

March 8, 2013 at 11:21 pm in reply to: Selecting No Compression for QT export in Avid MC 6.5.2You might want to try enabling Legacy Codecs in the terminal.
This is for the PNG codec, but it might work for None, as well.
In Lion or Mountain Lion, you have to specify what codec you want to enable:
For PNG as an example, open Terminal and type:
qtdefaults write LegacyVideoCodecs ApplePNG enabled
if you are curious about other codecs use:
qtdefaults read InstalledLegacyVideoCodecs
This will give you a list of all the legacy codecs whether they are enabled or not. Find the name of what you want and replace the codec name part in the write formula above and you’re set.
For the full help menu of qtdefaults just type:
qtdefaults
Btw…None is really rarely used. Avid 1:1x would be the better choice for SD. Many systems would have trouble with None, As you have seen, avid DNX is only for HD.

If you are having a problem where a portion of a clip is having cadence issues, it’s likely you have dropped frames during capture…assuming this is original camera footage and not edited footage from a master. Otherwise the cadence should remain consistent.
Anyway, glad it worked.

If you open the Motion Effect Editor and promote the Motion Adapter to a Time Warp, you can modify the pulldown cadence

Edit normally, at 25 fps. Output to tape and send to a dub house to have it converted on an Alchemist or another high quality standards converter.
