  • Cleaning a timeline of AMA’s

So I’ve been editing in DNxHD for months on 2 timelines. Very responsive, no problems…

I just included a few XDCAM HD clips on that timeline, to test the edit. Now every time I press play, there is a few second delay (beach ball) before the playhead plays.

So I decided to transcode these AMA (XDCAM HD) to DNxHD and replace them in the timeline. Now the timeline only has DNxHD, but the few seconds delay is still there when I try to play.

I closed the project, reopened it. Rebooted the machine… same deal.

Any recommendation to get this timeline’s responsiveness back to where it was?

    Thanks!

ah, the issue wasn’t that there was XDCAM HD clips left in the timeline (there aren’t), it’s mixed frame rates in the same timeline. The XDCAM HD stuff was 29.97 so the DNxHD were converted to 29.97 as well. The timeline is 23.98.

Rendering the 29.97 stuff should help.

Most systems can do reasonably well with that conversion in real time. Kind of surprised you are having issues, unless your sequence already has lots of RT effects.
