Kona 3 AES input does not work
Hi. I have a Kona 3 and don’t seem to be able to get AES audio into my system. (First time trying)
Here’s the set-up. I have a Audio-Technica AT2020 condenser mic hooked up to a Mackie 1402 mixer (provides phantom power). I’m going out of the mixer into the Kona 3 breakout box (Ch 1/2 in).
I don’t see any audio input levels in Soundtrack Pro or the System Preferences Sound panel. (In both, Audio Input is set to AJA Kona 3.)
If I go out of the mixer and into a speaker (instead of the BOB) then I get audio. So the speaker/mixer/output is working fine. It’s just going into the BOB where I lose audio.
In the AJA Control Panel, I have the Audio Input set to AES/EBU (xlr).
Is there anything else I can try?

OK, so the obvious answer (and most likely the problem) was that I am using an analog xlr cable to go into the Kona 3 BOB, which is of course AES/EBU digital.
So, the question is: can I just buy an AES/EBU xlr cable and will that work with my analog mixer? Or is there some kind of convertor I need?

No. That’s not an analog to digital converter.
It just is an adapter between Two types of AES audio connections (BNC and XLR).
