Same problem we’ve been getting reports of over and over. FCP won’t recognize the cameras either. We’ll keep you posted on any news to a fix.

Hey Mark,
My opinion is this:– (20Mb/s) / (24frames) = .833Mb/frame
– (20Mb/s) / (60frames) = .333Mb/frame
Hope this makes sense. My experience with 60p in the HD250 has been alright as I mostly use it for overcranking footage to use in a 24p timeline. I know that a lot of people like the 60p capabilities of this camera and I in no way am saying it looks bad. Don’t let anyone talk you into or out of this camera. I would say try one out and if it does what you want then get it.

Hey Mark,
The HD200’s are solid cameras. At 24p they are a charm. 60p starts pushing the codec but if you must it works. As far as the work flow is concerned, all of the major players support it. What caused you to take interest in the PROHD Lineup?Johnny C

Unfortunately this is true. I experienced this last week. Not sure what the problem is but it is very annoying. I will try and get some information on this and if you find anything that works please inform us. Best of luck.

Thanks for spotting that news. That would be a great choice for JVC. So far that’s the first real update that I have read about JVC staying current with all the latest compression wars. Interesting they chose the XD EX for a codec… I hope they use or create a better method of storage over sony’s SxS cards. How about a something that works with compact flash cards… chuckle chuckle.
Thanks for the news, keep me informed if you spot anymore action.Johnny C

I’m not trying to push swag but I’m selling one right now on eBay HD250.

It will shoot 24p (over 60i) and it will shoot 24pa (over 60i).
There is no such thing as SD 24p on it’s own. Both 24p and 24pa are captured to DV tape as 60i files.
24p is captured into your NLE as 29.97fps.
24pa is captured with the ‘Advanced Pulldown Removal 2:3:3:2’ to actually pull a 23.987 file from 60i.
All DV cameras that shoot 24p or 24pa use this method period.

Gary,
I am really sorry to hear that the problems are persisting.
Are you connecting to your 26 inch via component or composite? Does the image look macro-blocky out of focus or just no focus? I recall that happening once when I was shooting in DV mode 24pa but can’t remember at the moment how it was resolved… It was very frustrating and only happened in DV mode. Is your situation similar or is it happening all the time?
I guess if you’ve tried everything in your arsenal of troubleshooting and still have warranty time left on the cam then send it in. It really stinks to have to do that but maybe there’s just something wrong that’s under the skin. Please keep us informed as to hopefully help any others experiencing similar issues.Johnny C
