Un til recently my BR-HD50 deck was happily working with my Final cut pro edit system. Then all of a sudden the firewire seems to not work. The video out option in final cut is greyed out and I can not get the system to capture any video though the remote control still works on the deck.

I do not suspect the deck’s firewire port as I have successfully been transferring my material to a firestore HD100 HD recorder.

Does anyone have a clue? This has now happened on two machines. an old quicksilver and a new 8-core intel.

    I am seriously baffled. 🙁

Same problem we’ve been getting reports of over and over. FCP won’t recognize the cameras either. We’ll keep you posted on any news to a fix.

    I had this happen once.

the rear firewire port would not recognize the BR-HD50U. (or anything else)

however it DID work on the front.

some months later the rear port started working again.

    you might try another cable

also try an “SMU RESET” on the mac.
