I haven’t used an 1800 in quite some time, but I’m fairly sure that there is a menu setting for sync where you can select “video in” or “sync in”

What’s the timeline framerate? Have you tried 59.94?

What’s the audio sample rate in you media? If it’s not exactly 48k, this may be a reason.

I find that it works best by going into Safari/Window/Activity and copying the video URL directly from there.

You can also use Mpeg Streamclip. File: open URL and hit download.

Make sure the Raid drivers/firmware is up to date. You can also try to hide FCP, then unhide and see if your performance comes back.

I have an old Aurora system that is functional. How much footage is it?

If your 29.97 footage is b-roll and the sound doesn’t have to sync, you can use Compressor to do the frame rate conversion.

In the “Frame Controls” tab, select Rate Conversion: Best (High quality motion compensated)
Then check the box “”so source frames play at 23.98”

Render away (get a good book).

Since the source frame rate was 29.97 and you are conforming to 23.976, your footage will have a subtle so-mo effect to it. This may be good or bad depending on it’s use.
