November 27, 2010 at 9:15 pmI don’t know why, but streamclip won’t work for me when I’ve tried it. It always throws an error message.

November 27, 2010 at 9:37 pmI find that it works best by going into Safari/Window/Activity and copying the video URL directly from there.

November 29, 2010 at 12:25 pmYou can use the add-on: Easy Youtube Video Downloader
It can download the mp4 file, then you can use MPEG Streamclip to upres to Prores or whatever flavour codec you’re cutting.

The Easy Youtube Video Downloader doesn’t always work properly. Or at least I have had some troubles when I needed something from Youtube.
I now use the video-downloader from ant.com. Very handy.
