I understand Steve’s point, but I know that there are times when work simply must proceed right now.

You can also use Mpeg Streamclip. File: open URL and hit download.

I don’t know why, but streamclip won’t work for me when I’ve tried it. It always throws an error message.

I find that it works best by going into Safari/Window/Activity and copying the video URL directly from there.

Real Player now includes an app called Real Player Downloader, which automatically loads flv’s from websites and gives you the option if you want to download to your computer.

Its really good at getting stuff from youtube!

You can use the add-on: Easy Youtube Video Downloader

It can download the mp4 file, then you can use MPEG Streamclip to upres to Prores or whatever flavour codec you’re cutting.

Maybe a bit late, but better late than never…

The Easy Youtube Video Downloader doesn’t always work properly. Or at least I have had some troubles when I needed something from Youtube.

I now use the video-downloader from ant.com. Very handy.
