May 24, 2011 at 5:42 pmI’ve had to figure this out so thought I’d post my results for the next guy. My solution for copying youtube clips for use in FCP is the following:
1. Find clip in youtube then open Activity Monitor in Safari – command/option/A.
2. Find the link by scanning file sizes, largest one (5mb, etc) should be it. Double-click to download on desktop.
3. The file will probably be called VideoClip. Add the extension .flv
4. To confirm, you can play the file with VLC
5. Open the File in MPEG Streamclip (you may need to download the Perian plug-in at perian.org and restart the app, as I did)
6. Tada! Export using Quicktime
