    First NLE – Avid v5.5 on a Quadra 750 (1995).

FCP version 2 (2003), but not on a professional level until 4.5 (2006).

    Now…both.

Back in the 90’s the station I worked at bought a Media 100, but it couldn’t hold enough video to do anything useful. We also leased an Avid Newscutter for a while, and it had the same problem. Neither could keep up with the CMX online bay with four 1 inch machines.
    Things sure have changed.

First NLE was a pencil and paper, then the eraser wore out and it lost it’s non-linear capability 🙂

Avid Version 4 on an old Quadra (700? 750?)

Been with FCP now since version 1.2

Immix VideoCube 1.0 – 1993 @ GA Tech Athletic Association
FCP 1.2 in 2000 @ my Apt & then house. Just to edit my Avid demo reel at home, but quickly realized FCP 1.x had more in common with AE 3.x than Media Composer 7.x and started doing low cost editing at home.

The years before, during and in between were filled with CMX & Sony A/B roll systems, Media 100, and Avid.

Avid around 1993 when it was introduced at CNN and I was in the first class of editors to learn it. Was not useful for broadcast yet as the quality was reduced, but we were using it for offline and then taking the EDL to a CMX for conform.

Then Media 100 around 1996. Used that until 2001.

FCP 1.2.5 was my first version, though FCP 2.0 arrived about a week later. Had a whopping 240GB SCSI Media Array on that one…..
