    Paul,

So the AutoUpdate worked while you were a beta tester but doesn’t work now or you never tested the AutoUpdate feature while beta testing?

Also it would be nice to know how you get to the internet, dial-up modem, DSL, cable, Lan at work, etc.

    Paul,

the “Checking for updates…” window was just added but the other functionality should be the same.

Was the message you saw “No Internet connection!” or “Could not connect to server.”

Also, are you ( DSL, cable, Dial-up, wireless, T1, etc. )?

    Thanks,

    John

    Paul,

The Auto Update feature is attempting to access http://www.wondertouch.com to see if there are any emitter libraries or application updates available for down load and apparently can’t get to the web site.

If you are using a proxy server for Internet access you will need to verify your “Internet Settings” in control panel (Win XP, not sure for Vista), connections tab and “Lan settings”. Yes you do need to fill in the information even if you don’t plan to ever use Internet Explorer.

If it is the “Firewall” blocking access you will need to add particleIllusion.exe as an exception. I am not 100% sure on this one because some IT setups just won’t allow any update systems to work.

If these don’t help give us some feedback about your setup,

    Manny,

Sorry but no, but you can download the new version of ShowIEL called particleView( pView ) and you can hide it’s cursor!

There are three options to get pView:

    1) If you are an owner of particleIllusion 3.0.1 you can update for free and pView is included.
    https://www.wondertouch.com/downloads/updates/pIllusion_302_update.exe
    2) You can download the demo version of particleIllusion.
    https://www.wondertouch.com/downloads/pIllusion_302_demo.exe
    3) Just download pView.

I am not sure what exactly where your issue is; please describe what you want to do in more detail.

    Thanks,

    David,

Unfortunately that doesn’t help me. Could you please open the file in Windows Media Player and do a file properties and it should show the Video codec.

Maybe Elvis or one of the other Vegas guys can help?

    David,

Well you should be able to read any dv avi in pI if you have a codec that supports that format. It would appear you have a codec that supports that format because it plays in other programs.

If possible can find out what codec compressed the file?

So I guess if the work arround works use it but it isn’t the way it is supposed to work.

I had the same issue when I first started using pI, until I realized there are two modes add and select. There is an arrow in the tool bar, if the arrow is not pressed your cursor is a circle dot, add emitter mode, if the arrow is pressed your cursor is an arrow, select emitter mode. Select emitter mode is where you can move the emitter; you can also do a R-click on the emitter and “record position”.

P.S. I had to do the tutorials a couple of time before I got it!

    Oli,

there is supposed to be a file “image.raw” in the application folder. I am quite sure it was not in the install, update or full. We will have to hope Alan will bail us out and provide a link.
