    Alex,

there may be a copy in the “library_backups” folder in your application folder.

Did you try and edit the lib or did it just go bad?

    David,

Can you play the file with Windows Media Player? If not it is possible you don’t have the codec required to decode the file.

Also I am sure Alan spent countless hours on the manual that comes with particleIllusion and there is a section on particleView.

particleView is a much simpler program from the user interface point of view than particleIllusion! With that said just hit F1 and a window will appear, it is not a menu it is just a list of available commands, “L” will allow you to load a library and either scroll the mouse or use the arrows to change the emitter.

    Bob,

I am not sure what will happen if you delete the “broken” codec but what we hope will happen is you pI will now be able to save avi’s.

With the start menu you will most likely have to “clear” the recently run programs list and then run pI and pI will show up in the list.

If you are a current registered user of 3.0.1a, it is a free update! You will need to activate after you download and install.

    1) Unfortunately that is a WinXP error message, not much help. Alan suggested, “You may want to install a tool like “codec sniper” — something that will list all of your codecs, tell you if they are “ok” or “broken”, and let you remove bad codecs.”

    2) I use the classic start menu but there are options for how many programs to list in the recent programs list as well as a clear button in the start menu you use.

    Bob,

    1) What is the error message that pops up?

    2) I am not sure how WinXP qualifies “running” a program but if pI302 has crashed every time you have attempted to run it maybe WinXP has not added it to the list of recent applications and you did say you ran “reset default settings” and it apparently ran and completed and is now in the list.

When you run pIllusionRender what is in the box to the left of the AVI Options button? Also is it possible for you to save to a WMV output and click the WMV Options button?

  • Be sure to Kill any instances of the program that may be hidden (ctrl+alt+del) then Task Manager then image name look for particleIllusion.exe and then end process. rerun particleIllusion 3.0 – reset default settings
