Can you be more specific? I’m not sure if you mean in the update (3.0.2), in pIllusion, in pIRender, etc.

Ok, thanks. Try this and see if it crashes too:

    1) run particleIllusion 3.0.2
    2) ctrl-click the Save Output button. (This will force pIRender to be used for the render)
    3) choose an AVI as output

When pIRender launches, it should open the codec selection dialog right away. If that works, select any codec and click the “render” button so pIR does the render and closes.

Now try running pIR alone and clicking the AVI Options button.

When you run pIllusionRender what is in the box to the left of the AVI Options button? Also is it possible for you to save to a WMV output and click the WMV Options button?

If you render an AVI with pIllusion 3.0.2, you don’t have any problems, right?

    Close pIRender.

If you’re familiar with Regedit, please run it and look at the following key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\wondertouch\pIllusionRender\Settings\AviCompressor

Edit it, and set its value to “0”, then close Regedit.

If pIRender still crashes when you click the AVI Options button, delete the whole
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\wondertouch\pIllusionRender key.

    Let me know what works.

It works, :), but however seems to be the cineform encoder that makes the problem, Now I can choose avi codecs, but when I choose the cineform encoder it is the same, not much of a problem now, just have to see that I don

So what was the solution? What did you have to do exactly in order to make it stop crashing?

The pin connection error messages usually indicate that you’re trying to render a resolution that the codec does not support. Some codecs only support specific sizes, while some codecs support any size.

The solution was as you suggested :

“If you’re familiar with Regedit, please run it and look at the following key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\wondertouch\pIllusionRender\Settings\AviCompressor

Edit it, and set its value to “0”, then close Regedit”

The value showed “3”, so I changed it as you suggested to “0”
restarted my computer and after that it worked perfectly, Thanks !
