  • Help! Particle Illusion won’t start on my computer!

Posted by Agatheron on July 24, 2007 at 9:06 pm

    Hi…

I just got back from a few weeks of vacation, and much to my horror I tried to start up Particle Illusion on Windows XP and nothing happened, save for the standard alert beep. No dialogue boxes have come up, nothing… It’s a fully registered version, and it’s giving no indication as to why the software isn’t activating.

Any suggestions on what I might be able to do?

    Yours in panic,

    Agatheron

I tried that once already, and it gave me the same warning beep with no startup. I’ll try it again when I am back at my computer in the office… but just in case, any other suggestions?

Be sure to Kill any instances of the program that may be hidden (ctrl+alt+del) then Task Manager then image name look for particleIllusion.exe and then end process. rerun particleIllusion 3.0 – reset default settings

Tried killing any processes that seemed to be the culprit and running the reset, but unfortunately, I’m still getting the same result. Do I need to reinstall? I’ve even gone so far as to shut the computer down, run the reset as the first thing I do after I turn the computer back on, and still nothing.

This is starting to get critical for an upcoming project!

Did you purchase the CD version or download version? If CD, did you ever install from the CD or were you still using the temporary download version? I think the temporary download version (stops working after 50 days) doesn’t show any messages for some users when it expires.

If that’s not the issue, try “run with software rendering”.
