Evan,
A -1303 is a “diffVolErr” or “Files on different volumes”. Is it possible you were downloading to a location that was on a drive different from your Home drive? particleIllusion AutoUpdate first downloads to the users home drive (/{USER}/Library/Application Support/wondertouch/particleIllusion/Emitter Libraries/) then it moves the file(s) to the selected download location.
If this is the situation particleIllusion still knows you downloaded the library and has added the path to the library manager so you can have access to the file.
In the future pick a folder on your home drive to download to.
I hope this helps,
John

Yes “add” does make you choose a file but it uses the path to the file as a path to search for Emitter Libraries.
particleView(pView) doesn’t use any registry so that likely won’t help but to make sure you have a clean install delete these files before reinstalling.
\All Users\Application Data\wondertouch\particleView\
pView_prefs.dat
\All Users\Application Data\wondertouch\search data\
Image.pIs
Index.pIs
IndexSum.pIs
KeyWords.pIs
Paths.pIsIf you are a particleIllusion 3.0 owner pView should go in your particleIllusion folder in Program Files, pView will automatically look in the “Emitter Libraries” folder.

Try the “add” button to add a new path to the search. Using the “edit” button is a bit picky about the syntax of the path.

most likely the registry has been messed up, there should be an option in your particleIllusion program group, Troubleshooting, reset default settings.
So: Start->particleIllusion 3.0->Troubleshooting->reset default settings
I hope this helps!

Lynton,
not exactly sure what you want but you can download all the emitters from the web site and use particleView to go through them. Just do a “” search basically just click search without typing any key words, slide the slider so the images look big and scroll down it shouldn’t take long there are only 2350 or so.
emitters_0407 retro squares looks like paper squares maybe?
Have fun,
John

Lynton,
Try emitters_04_09 (Confetti party) or emitters_04_01 (super confetti).
btw: I just entered “confetti” into particleView, it did all the work and the best part it is FREE, download it if you haven’t already!

Paul,
pView is a very simple program, just hit F1 and you will see all the available options. Alan did a very good write-up in the pI manual in Tutorial 6.

Todd,
well you can always get the catalog, it is html and text searchable via your browser.

Todd,
the best way I know is to use particleView (pView) and search for “cosmos”, if you don’t have pView you can download it from the web site.
There are three options to get pView:
1) If you are an owner of particleIllusion 3.0.1 you can update for free and pView is included.
https://www.wondertouch.com/downloads/updates/pIllusion_302_update.exe
2) You can download the demo version of particleIllusion.
https://www.wondertouch.com/downloads/pIllusion_302_demo.exe
3) Just download pView.
