So, you are capturing as ProRes HQ. (BTW, you really only need ProRes422, but I don’t think that has anything to do with the sync). Next, do you edit your material in a ProRes sequence? Your earlier post mentioned codec settings of HDV and Uncompressed 10-bit. It appears as if your framerate settings are okay. After your edit, you should Export a self-contained QT movie Using Current Settings. Do not use QT Conversion or Send to Compressor. Take that self-contained file into Compressor and use the presets you’ve mentioned to make the mpeg-2 and ac3 for the DVD.

I believe the SD302 can do what you want. It has XLR line outs as well as tape outputs that have the same output. I think the tape output is a different connector. I’m not at the office and can’t confirm this, but I’m sure the SD site has the manual.

I don’t remember where I saw the info. Check the Support FAQs and Resources tab. I used AST for Flash subtitling and searched all over the site for information. They definitely have recommendations for things like font, # of characters per line, etc.

I’ve no more ideas. I know that I/O devices like the Kona add their own Easy Setups when they’re installed. I don’t know what Easy Setups are installed just by FCP as they are all mixed together on my system. I recall that during installation there was an option for installing additional Easy Setups. However, the fact you’re seeing ProRes in the other menus is strange. Making your own capture preset is good. I use my own Custom Easy Setups all the time for specific codecs/formats I work with.

In Video Playback do you have Blackmagic settings, too? I don’t know Blackmagic, but it’s probably similar to AJA’s Kona. Look for a 1080i 29.97 8-bit playback choice. And External Video should be set to All Frames.
