You can link tracks using Cmd L. Highlight all the tracks and Cmd L should link them together. You can’t do this when more than one audio track has a video track. Another approach would be to nest the synced tracks. Then by adjusting the nested audio track you would affect all the synced tracks like a master fader.

The advantage of Drop Frame code is it can be read as actual accurate time. For instance, 30 minutes of NDF is longer than 30 minutes. 30 minutes of DF code is exactly 30 minutes. See this explanation by Larry Jordan.

Don’t use Send to Compressor or Quicktime Conversion. It’s a 2-step process. First export a Quicktime from your timeline Using Current Settings. Then use that exported file in Compressor to encode the mv2 and ac3 files.

The basic strategy when using clips with different framerates and/or sizes is to convert them all to one codec – usually ProRes – and edit in a ProRes sequence. If you are trying to edit with H.264 you’ll have trouble. It’s not an edit codec. Also, audio should always be Linear PCM, 48kHz, 16 or 24 bit. Otherwise, you will have constant rendering. And, I suggest using Compressor for these kind of conversions. It can give you much greater quality than QT Pro, although, it will take considerably more time.

mv2 is shorthand for mpeg-2. Export a QT Using Current Settings. Do not use QT Conversion. Use that file in Compressor. Apply the appropriate settings from Apple > DVD > Best Quality dependent on program length. Be sure to change the parameters in the ac3 setting as follows: in the Inspector > Encoder > Audio tab change Dialog Normalization from -27 to -31 and in the Preprocessing tab > change the Compression Preset to None. I’m not familiar with iDVD. I suggest you learn DVDSP. Read about it in the DVDSP Cow forum. It’s not hard to learn.
