  • Have you tried Audio Mixdown? Also, you might try using Render Manager to delete audio renders, and then re-render. What’s your I/O card or box? Where’s your media stored? How much space is left on that drive? Also, audio needs to be 48k 16 or 24 bit, not 96k. Also, I’d run Disk Warrior.

Having no size is a bad sign. Where’s the original MXF media? I’d try offloading the media again.

As Michael says, you want separate aiff or wave files for thr 5.1. There are a couple of ways to deal with the stereo tracks. Again, as Michael says, you can have a stereo mix from the 5.1. However, your DVD folks might want a Dolby Surround matrix mix which when played withon a Dolby Surround player gives you surround sound, but when played on gear that doesn’t have surround capability, gives you stereo. Dolby Surround is supplied as 2 tracxks called Lt and Rt. LtRt is a compromise and probably isn’t as good a mix as a mix made specifically for stereo. But, the DVD folks may want that.

Here’s a short description of various Dolby options: https://www.dolby.com/uploadedFiles/zz-_Shared_Assets/English_PDFs/Professional/43_audiosource.pdf

If you add a FW card you will be able to use both devices.

  • On pages 49 & 50 of the user manual AG-HPX170_oi.pdf there’s a discussion about limiting the effect of shooting 60i in 50i land. If you know someone in Europe who could shoot a minute and send it to you, you might see what it looks like.

When capturing are you using both your audio mixer and the FW800 drive? If so, that may be contributing to your problem. All FW ports are on a single buss. If you have two devices operating that might cause conflicts. Try removing the mixer and take the audio straight in to test if that helps the picture.

I don’t edit with XDCAM, so these are general suggestions. Have you trashed FCP preferences and repaired permissions? Also, run Disk Warrior. If you don’t own it, order it. It’s invaluable for keeping your system happy. Another thing to try is delete your render files using the Render Manager and re-render. Hope this helps.
