You didn’t say how you exported for Compressor. IMHO the best isea is to Fole>Export>QT movie with current settings. It can be a self-contained or ref movie. Then bring that file into Compressor. Going from HD to SD involves a lot of scaling and if not done well will negatively impact quality. In the Encoder tab in Compressor’s Inspector, be sure that you have Frame Controls on and all the quality settings (I think there are 3) set to Best.

IMHO it’s best to convert into one common format before editing. That way you don’t have render issues. If you have a specific delivery format make that your edit format. Use Compressor to to do the conversions. Search the Cow for workflows to do that.

Do you have a second FW bus on a card, or are you plugging one device in the front and the other in the back? All the FW connections on the mac are one buss. If you plug in two devices, you may get a negative reaction. Not always, but sometimes. It can be intermittent.

Have you trashed prefs and repaired permissions? If not, try that. Also, run Disk Warrior on your system drive.

Rafael, I tried to set CBR (Generic Stream Usage) with a Program Stream using an HD source (DVCPro 720P (23.98) and the CBR option was grayed out. I could only set CBR with a SD source.

Perhaps you are hearing both the FCP output and the playback from your deck at the same time. That could over drive the audio channel.

Is FxFactory still installed? You could try running Disk Warrior on your system drive before doing a reinstall.

I’d edit in DVCPro HD. You can only Log & Transfer in that codec with files from that camera. I’m not sure what the advantage would be to transcode to ProRes. I edit with DVCPRO HD all the time and it’s fast.
