I’m not sure why your sync is off. Many things can contributr to that/ But, to get your audio louder, simply copy the audio tracks in your sequence and put the copy below the original ones on your timeline. Link them together and you should be good to go.

Changing the .mov extension of an h.264 encode to .flv definitely works. If the file size is too large, decrease the data rate in Compressor. I still like the On VP6 codec in Flash Encoder or Sorenson Squeeze which we use for encoding flvs.

We let FCP create the project sub-folders on the capture drive. But, we put folders for music, gfx, etc. inside each project sub- folder. It makes it easy to archive projects as all the media is in one place (except for the renders which we typically don’t archive).

You need to turn on audio scrubbing. View Menu > Audio Scrubbing make sure there’s a checkmark next to it, or try pressing Shift-S.

Checkout the Kona LHi. It does up/down & cross conversion in realtime. While you’re outputting SD from HD now, if you’ll have any need in the future to include SD archival footage in your HD timelines, having the realtime upconvert capability makes sense.

When you upscaled in Compressor, did you have Frame Controls on (in the Frame Controls tab of the Inspector) and the Resize Filter set to Best? If not, try that on a short clip to see if it helps. It should improve the scaling of the clip.
