I’ve found exporting PNGs gives me the best results. I scale and/or distort in FCP. I just did this with excellent results. Make sure your render settings in Seq Settings is set to best.

Mainly it means you can play video without a lot of rendering. Most NLEs will play realtime. Factors that affect that are the choice of your edit codec (DV or DVCProHD for instance), the speed of your edit computer, and the speed of the hard drives storing the video files. If you search the Cow, you’ll find more threads than you’ll want to read about suggested edit systems.

I’d definitely double-check. If the master isn’t in spec, it will be rejected by the network’s QC dept.

Checkout the AJA KiPro. https://www.aja.com/products/ki-pro/ You feed it HD-SDI from any camera and it records ProRes (which is 10-bit) to either an included hard drive module or an ExpressCard. You can instantly edit that material with FCP.

That effect is probably added in post. It looks like a volumetric light effect. There are many plugins for FCP that can create that type of effect. FCP has a few Video Filters in the Glow menu. Also, Google CoreMelt, Trapcode Shine & CHV Flow effects.
