A single external drive will choke sooner than an external RAID – similar to what was mentioned above. Look to the right and left and you’ll see ads by various companies selling excellent external raids that connect with FW800. If your company is willing, it’s even better to go with a SAS or eSATA card to an external RAID. It’ll be faster, more robust and offer more flexibility for a variety of HD formats.

Ask the vendor providing the camera for a clip. If they don’t have one ready point out it’s great customer service to provide it. Your request makes sense. Most folks don’t think to check workflow before jumping into it.

Another way to say what Peter has suggested is the closer the mic gets to the mouth the louder the speech is so you lower the gain of the mic to get the voice to a good level. By lowering the gain you also lower the background noise. I once shot in an American Can plant which was so loud everyone had to wear mandatory ear protection. But the sound person placed the lavs in a perfect position so the actors were perfectly clear. You heard the background noise, but it did not drown out the talent.

Other excellent keyers are from Primatte (Motion has a cut-down version which is still pretty good), Keylight (which comes with AfterFX) but now has a version that works inside FCP, and PHYX
