You can’t just give her the Raylight-produced QT files. They act something like reference video files. The only solution I can think of would be to use FCP to L&T the MXF files to QTs, and as long as she had the appropriate codecs on her machine, she’d be able to use them. It’s possible Raylight can export QTs, but I don’t know. Another idea is to use a program like ProxyMill, but that costs. If you do this a lot, I’d invest in it.

This is pretty simple. On your big hard drive make and name a folder for each P2 card – you don’t need a partition. Then copy the entire P2 card structure (Contents folder and Lastclip.txt file) from your partitioned drive into its folder on the big drive. Voila! You’re done.

Actually if you set up a SD anamorphic sequence and drop a DVCProHD clip into it, the clip will be scaled by FCP to somewhere around 75%. So you can zoom up to 100% with very little softening and probably well beyond, Try it one your system (I just did) and decide for yourself how far you can go. Let your client see it, too, and decide.

I’m not familiar with that, but have you tried MPEG Streamclip? I know it deals with some avi and it can export QuickTimes.

I’m not expert in standards conversions. The couple times I’ve done it with software I used Graeme Nattress’ Standards Converter. I’ve seen people discuss successful conversions with Compressor, but I have never used it for that. If you search, it’s possible you’ll find a Cow tutorial about this. I seem to recall one.

I don’t know that camera, but many require a menu setting to enable Firewire or USB or, perhaps, go into VCR mode. Just a thought.

Checkout ClipWrap. You might also run DiskWarrior. If your directory is corrupt that could affect L&T’s ability to find the data, thereby, causing the crash.
