    We have ftg shot on HPX500 @ 960×720 but will be releasing SD. The question: can I scale the video up past 100% in an SD timeline without deteriorating the image and if so how far?

    Client wants on-camera talent shots tighter….

    Actually if you set up a SD anamorphic sequence and drop a DVCProHD clip into it, the clip will be scaled by FCP to somewhere around 75%. So you can zoom up to 100% with very little softening and probably well beyond, Try it one your system (I just did) and decide for yourself how far you can go. Let your client see it, too, and decide.
