Sounds like your sequence settings don’t match the clip’s parameters. What are your seq settings & what are the clip parameters: codec, frame rate, frame size, etc.?

I don’t know the answer, but try to change the PAL to 29.97. You may have to adjust the pitch of the audio down if the pitch change is noticeable.

They also make FCS Maintenance Pack. While I agree with both David & Michael and do the same kind of monthly maintenance, sometimes there are specific issues one of the programs in FCS MP can address, like a corrupt project or media.

Select the clips – normally I hit the letter “T” four times – it will turn into a double arrow facing right – then when you click with it, it will select all the clips to the right. Then, drag them to the time you want.

Go to Sequence Settings > Timeline Options tab > Starting Timecode. And I think you mean 00:58:30:00 for your bars start point. That will lead up to 1:00:00:00

It’s not clear if you followed Michael’s suggestion to export a QuickTime from FCP and not use Send to Compressor. If you’ve set your sequence setting to ProRes (422 or LT should be good), then Export a QT using Current Settings. Then, use that file in Compressor. BTW how are you monitoring?

Could be a corrupt media or render file. The FCS Maintenance Pack might help you find the bad file. There’s a Corrupt File Finder in it. They have a free trial. Another option is to delete all your render files with the Render Manager, then re-render.

If the audio is fine on the DVD then something bad is happening in the sound system in the auditorium. It sounds like the mixer input being used has the bass cranked up which is causing the fuzziness and possible distortion. It’s also possible the wrong input channel is being used. I’d check this out with an av techie who knows the sound system. It’s also possible that the over-emphasized bass is on the DVD and that you don’t hear it on the TV set since that it may be rolling off the bass. Can you post an audio file from a portion of your video that has the problem? Just export an aiff from FCP. Then we’d be able to tell if your audio is at fault or not. If your audio is good the problem is definitely elsewhere.
