Having a major problem with Final Cut 6 log and Capture: something I have never seen before.

When I put a tape into the camera and then call up the Log and Capture window, all looks well and fine. When I hit play in Log and Capture, the tape begins to roll along with the timecode. However, the instant I hit “capture now”, the tape continues to play, but the timecode ceases and nothing is captured.

If I attempt to log the tape first, and then capture it, I run into the same issue.

All of my settings are correct. I have attempted multiple tapes on two different cameras, and end up with the same results.

I am using a Canon XH-A1, and a Sony FX-100. I am running a PowerMac with a Dual-Core Intel and 10 GB of RAM. Current operating system is 10.5.8.

Log and Capture worked just fine yesterday.

Any ideas as to what is going on?

When the unexpected happens I always trash prefs, repair permissions, and run Disk Warrior.
