Ignore the second paragraph of my last post. If the client wants the files in 720 x 576 square pixels, even if you make your photoshop files and your comp using those specs the vision will look stretched in a video monitor. You should double check with the client. You may also like to do a test where you create a perfect circle in Photoshop (720 x 576), import that into AE and interpret it as Square pixels, then drop it into a 720 x 576 square pixel comp. It will look okay on your PC but stretched horizontally on your video monitor. If you change the comp to non square pixels, the circle will look slightly squashed on your PC but fine on the video monitor. You’ll also notice that the file is now too short on the left and right sides. If you work at 768 square or 720 non square in Photoshop you won’t have this problem. This area can be a little confusing but I hope that helps.

No I’m saying that AE will interpret them as non square pixels. Or if you make your file at 768 x 576 AE will interpret them as square pixels. If the client is asking for 720 x 576 square pixels you’ll need to force the interpretation of the footage by doing it manually. You must make sure that your comp is created at 720 x 576 square or else your photoshop file will be too short on the left and right edges.

Are you importing them at 720 x 576 resolution? If so then After Effects is mistaking them for D1/DV PAL footage and interpreting them accordingly. Try making your Photoshop files 768 x 576 and AE will interpret them as square pixels. If you have Photoshop 7 or later you can create your file at 720 x 576 but remember to use the D1/DV PAL pixel aspect ratio setting in Photoshop.

It’s in preferences. PREFERENCES > GENERAL > DEFAULT SPATIAL INTERPOLATION TO LINEAR.

Try using the Export feature. FILE > EXPORT > AVI.
