Agree with Todd also, if it’s not in writing, you shouldn’t give away project files. We have one client who has that in their contracts, because they work with multiple vendors and on occasion will want us to give files to vendor b to recreate something for a different division.

One thing though I would suggest is always archiving your project files regardless, whether they pay a fee or not. Every project i finish, collect everything, put it on an LTO. Can’t count the number of times, I’ve been able to just re-purpose something I created 3 or 4 years ago really quickly because I could pull up the old project. Just my 2 cents.

Generally for a sihouette, it’s easier to shoot it on a green screen, key it, and then use that key as a matte layer over a solid(black in your case). If your camera was locked down, you could give the difference key a shot.

No, you need to manually do it that. If it’s something you are doing a lot. You probably could set up your video in a “Source precomp”, move that precomp into new a comp(s) and do all the work for you final. Then when just drop a new video into your “Source Precomp” and render then next one.

Generally it’s done by motion tracking your scene or camera tracking and then adding text to the scene. Lots of tutorials for that.

Generally, by default the magenta boundary view should be turned on, but if it’s not after you draw your first line. Make sure view is set to “roto brush” and under the window on the far left is 3 boxes with a little guy in them. These select how you see your scene, for the boundary tool, you want the middle one.

Another thing to check is that “Roto Brush” is highlighted in your layer effect window.

In your comp window select the “Top” view, then go to the menu bar View > “Assign Shortcut to Top” and choose f11.
