Sounds like you have a keyframe interpolation issue. Select all your keyframes, right-click and set to Linear to change this. Also, under preferences there is a place to set the default keyframe interpolation.

Assuming an adjustment layer with the effect. I think what you need to do is create 2 adjustment layers(one with curves, one with blur), and sandwich the shape layer in between them.

Have you tried deleting your preferences. On a PC, start AE, and then press and hold shift+cntl+alt

Think you are stuck to filling out the Feature Request form then. Something along the lines of “Precomps made within a composition” Label default. I don’t organize that way, but it is strange that it’s not there. Sorry I couldn’t be more help on this one.

If you have the CC version those would be very easy to create in C4D, just extruding some splines.

I don’t know about automatically, but you can right click on the swatch and change it’s color to whatever you want.

Sorry for the delay in responding, been crazy busy. I cloned some of the background from behind the logo, made it full comp size, then used the mocha corner pin to place it over the United. Added some blur, keyframed the position a bit and added a curves effect to match the lighting as the plane turns.
This is pretty rough, but should give you an approach for the project.
