  • If you want to continue using the corner pin method, make a precomp the same size as your final comp and build your patch there, it should just be the cloned area, no background. It will need to fill the entire comp. So either scale it up, tile it, add some blur. Then drop this precomp into the final comp and apply the mocha corner pin data.

For your particular project, I would probably be using mocha shape tools and mask tools, there are tutorials at mocha that can explain that method.

Under the Add pullout under selector, you need to add a “wiggly” selector and play with those settings, depending on exactly what you are trying to achieve. You could make it procedural by taking the rotation/wiggly and making them an animation preset.

    Here’s a little sample project. 9954_percharacterrotation.aep.zip

If it’s progressive, you should be able to do a pixel width of 1. Unless I have good reason, I stick to 1.5 to 2 at the low end, depending on the project. I would just make a couple of quick test animations(create lines of 1,2,3, & 4 pixels wide), compress to all your deliverable formats and determine my min based on the most compressed file.

If you created your grid by using masks, I would just duplicate the layer and name the top layer “matte”. On the bottom layer, delete the mask, and change the track mask(press F4 if the mattes column isn’t visible) to “alpha matte”. Now just keyframe the scale of the bottom layer.

Adjustment layers with masks and hue/saturation effects and the beam effect in a precomp might work.

Looks me like each there are multiple copies of the map layer over the original. With a mask around each country, set in a different color. You could probably accomplish that with the Paint Bucket effect. Then simple transitions are used to bring on each conquered area. Grid wipe, linear wipe and so on.

here’s a link to some tutorials demonstrating the basic techniques in AE, which is pretty much how this animation was accomplished.

Can’t think of something that does that type of movement, other than just using the camera tool, moving to every text build and adding a bit of wiggle to the camera position.

I think with CC, you can get a copy of CS6, you might just try that.

Take the upper eyelid layer(I believe it’s a solid, masked and stroked), duplicate it, and remove the stroke. Place it above the pupil and change the pupils track matte(press F4 to switch to track mattes) to “alpha inverted.

If I was doing this, i would precomp both the eyeball and pupil, and have the precomps track matte be set to alpha inverted. Less masking work for you then.
