    So I am new to Adobe After Effects, how would I be able to make a map conquering animation as shown in the video? I do not know much about how things work in after effects so if there is any tutorial or such out there as to show me how to do these type of things that would be helpful.

    Looks me like each there are multiple copies of the map layer over the original. With a mask around each country, set in a different color. You could probably accomplish that with the Paint Bucket effect. Then simple transitions are used to bring on each conquered area. Grid wipe, linear wipe and so on.

    here’s a link to some tutorials demonstrating the basic techniques in AE, which is pretty much how this animation was accomplished.
