The channel condition lights show how much error correction the deck is having to do to play back picture and sound. On normal playback, only the green will be lit. An occasional yellow flash is ok as well, but if you see the red light flashing or steadily on, you have a problem. You have to be playing a tape for the lights to be active. Playback a known good recording and have a look at the lights, then playback the tape with crackly audio and see if the lights are the same.
If everything plays back green, then it’s not a sync issue.

Check the channel condition lights on your Dbeta, you might have a recording problem. Are you seeing any red lights flashing?
Check how you’ve got your deck synced to your system. Do you have the same sync ref going to the decklink and the deck?

I’ve seen this happen several times in FCP. It’s a bug. Try copying your material into a new sequence, sometimes that helps. I’ve had situations where I’ve been happily making inserts into my master, then all of a sudden, the bug crops up. Usually, setting a much longer in and out duration will allow me to make the edit. (Then I just punch out on the fly using the deck controls)

Doesn’t the 1400 use RS-232 control rather than the more commonly used RS-422? The Decklink cards support RS422. Check the manual for your deck but I think you will need a serial to RS-232 adapter to control your deck.

Set your Stills cache memory in FCP System Settings to 50 %. That’s seems to have helped on my system.

I have a similar set-up but with a Decklink card and the Tascam. I find there are huge timing problems if I try and play audio through the Tascam and video via SDI. The Tascam is a great control surface, but I don’t think it does a great job trying to remain synced with video.
I run SPDIF audio from the Decklink card into the Tascam for monitoring, which is in sync and you can still use it as a control surface, It’s only when I use the Tascam as an audio output device in FCP that it wanders all over the place in relation to the picture. When I’m outputting to tape I use embedded SDI.

4.8 is for OS 10.3.8 5.0 and above is for OS 10.4. Check Blackmagics support page to make sure you’re running the proper driver for your setup

I always uninstall the drivers before installing new ones. But it will trash your FCP preferences in the process. You might want to back them up with FCP rescue first.

Are you running a Blackmagic HD card? Did it possibly default to HD rather than SD? Or did it switch from Pal to NTSC or vice versa? I installed 5.1 and haven’t seen any issues with it. Did you use the included uninstaller before running the installer?

It would be nice to see Apple open up their interface code for 3rd partys. There’s a lot of buttons on the 1082 that could be used in FCP.
How are you using the box? I’ve found there are huge delay/timing issues if I use the 1082 as my audio output device. So instead I take the spdif from my Decklink card and feed it into the 1082. Everything stays in sync and I use the 1082 as my control surface. With the disappearance of Flying Cow A/D boxes, the 1082 is a great A/D D/A with a control surface thrown in.
