    Hi,

We need to be able to let long projects render overnight (render times of many hours) to have any hope of getting our shows out on time. We are working in 1080i 8-bit Uncompressed HD. The timelines are fairly complex with graphics and multiple layers of video. We have both Live Type and TIFF files in most of the timelines. It sems like every time (I set out to let it render the project for output, it give an out of memory error and stops rendering. This is on a Dual 2.3 G5 with 3.5GBs ram and a ATI X800 video card working off a 4TB XRaid. No other programs open. I’ve checked for file corruption and haven’t found any. Trashing prefs dosn’t seem to help. If we can’t get this to work, we will be in major trouble, because we can’t waste entire work days waiting for rendering that we have to monitor every twenty minutes or so. I had a show due Monday and have spent all week trying to figure out what is going on. Any help would be greatly appreiated.

Set your Stills cache memory in FCP System Settings to 50 %. That’s seems to have helped on my system.

    Cheers

Also, I hope I’m not being degrading here, make sure you’re setting your files to go to the raid storage, not the internal drives. On your system settings where you tell FCP where to put your project, it also lets you tell FCP where to put your wave files, Render files, etc…

I see editors forgetting these settings a lot.
