    Hi Chris

Are you running a Blackmagic HD card? Did it possibly default to HD rather than SD? Or did it switch from Pal to NTSC or vice versa? I installed 5.1 and haven’t seen any issues with it. Did you use the included uninstaller before running the installer?

    Cheers

    Hi John,

I have a DLSP card, and I did not uninstall the old drivers. Should I try that?

    Hi Chris

I always uninstall the drivers before installing new ones. But it will trash your FCP preferences in the process. You might want to back them up with FCP rescue first.

Oh, that explains why my prefs were gone when I did uninstall the 5.1 before going back to 4.8.

    Chris

4.8 is for OS 10.3.8 5.0 and above is for OS 10.4. Check Blackmagics support page to make sure you’re running the proper driver for your setup

    Hey John,

After several tries with 5.1 and 4.8.1 with the same result, a terribly flickering monitor, I’ve had to go back to 4.8 which works fine as it did before I started this whole mess. I tried messing with the prefs pane, repaired permissions, no dice. Everything else in my system works fine, maybe I need to go to QT 7.0.2 (I’m using 7.0.1) befor I can use the new BM drivers.

    Hi Chris,

Which version of Mac OS X and FCP are you using?

    Hey Luke,

I’m running Tiger 10.4.2 and FCP 5.0.2, G5 dual 2 gig with 2.5 gigs of RAM. I had thought maybe the flicker had to do with QT so on Sunday I upgraded to 7.0.2, and tried your new drivers again, same flicker. It is an affliction that runs through all QT based apps, in other words, the flicker can be seen and heard wether I’m in FCP or just playing a movie. The monitor has a constant flicker, except if I play a Beta tape and it behaves normally.

I tried messing with every setting in the prefs to no avail. This same flicker occured in 4.8.1 as well as 5.1. I’ve had to go back to 4.8, and yes, I got the color thing worked out, so thanks. At least I got my livelyhood back. But I sure wish I could use the new drivers.

    Thanks for helping me out!
