January 20, 2017 at 6:17 pm in reply to: Render Queue Jumps to Comp Window while RenderingI’m still getting this incredibly annoying issue even after updating to 14.0.1.5 on OSX
Is there no true fix to this still?

Great suggestions! I totally forgot about Mesh Warp but I’m going to try that as well as Displacement Map and see what yields the best results. Really appreciate it.

I have a Sigma 17-50mm that I really like and is super affordable with optical stabilization. I may pick up the Tokina 11-16mm as well. Also, check out Rokinon for some more options.

I share your frustration with KeyLight. I always have a better initial result with Premiere’s UltraKey. I think Dave’s Alpha matte technique is worth a shot though. Otherwise, changing your workflow to key in Premiere and then bring the sequences into After Effects is another way to go. Good luck!

Hey that’s fantastic! I actually really enjoyed that title sequence. The juxtaposition of imagery over the characters was really cool. Complex roads over Woody Harrelson almost looked like muscle tissue.

Have you tried adjusting your sampling quality under Physical in your render settings? Maybe try upping that and if that doesn’t work I’d also adjust anti-aliasing settings. Hope that helps!

Just chiming in to say that Adam’s recommendation for Video Copilot is a great one. I’ve used their Action Essentials 2 stock for a lot of projects, especially the fire fx. They are shot HD and pre-keyed.
You could then add the video to a material and put it directly in your scene but I would use After Effects for this as well.

Hi Mike,
I believe you want to preserve the underlying transparency of your text.
You have have to expand the controls in your comp timeline to see the option, but I’ve uploaded a couple images to demonstrate what I mean.
Just tick that box on each layer you want to apply to the text. Hope that helps!

June 19, 2013 at 5:14 pm in reply to: How to make a traditional cartoon texture effect in after effects? It seems to me that these these are mostly hand drawn elements and animated using a looping turbulent displace effect so that the lines wiggle between frames.
There is also a texture that looks like it loops on top of everything. Maybe a fractal noise could help with that or create these in photoshop and overlay them on top of your footage.
