I guess a work around would be to just create your text in illustrator and go from there.

I can’t answer your question but I can tell you this. We almost work exclusively in 1080p23.98 for HD and our Tri-Level feed is fine for this. The moment I switch to 1080i59.94 on the HDSR I have to pull the sync patch out to get it to work. I don’t know why but the machine just won’t lock up with the Tri-Level. Instead I just have it pull sync from my system.
Funny thing is that I don’t have to do this on the D5 machine.

correct. no excuses period. the owner of my company goes to great lengths to secure work / contracts and if me or someone under my supervision makes a mistake and he hears about it…NOT GOOD.

Sorry, but being overworked is really no excuse. This business is tough and if enough of those mistakes occur your clients I’m sure can find someone else for less money.
Maybe make yourself a workflow checklist for each client and be sure to follow it every time. Our company has a bunch of different studio clients and each master is a different process for all of them. We have a notebook for each client’s needs.

Maybe try switching you sequence render settings to 8-bit. That’s worked for me before with a (kinda) similar problem.

Compressor has a MPEG-2 Program Stream preset that you should check out.

People stop bickering. And John, don’t take the forums so personally. It’s just that this question gets asked ALL the time and nobody here can really answer it. You actually answered it yourself:

YES! As you already know there are zillions of formats out there these days. You already know the most common ones from the specs you have. Each client is different, THEY will tell you what they want. We can’t unfortunately.
