Green Speckles on Playback
Hey all. Well I just changed from a G5 2.3 dual core to a Mac Pro 3.0 ghz quad with an ATI X1900 vid card, 12 gigs of ram, Blackmagic HD Extreme (the late 2007 version), FCP 6.0.5, QT 7.6, OSX 10.5.7. I’m getting weird green speckles, is all I can think to call them when playing back clips in FCP – both in the canvas window and cinema display or out through the blackmagic card out to a plasma. It seems to happen on different formats, I’ve tried prores 422 and it also happens in XDCAM. Also, when I stop playing, my display gets brighter which if I remember, means my processor is struggling to keep up which baffles me because on my dual core G5, I NEVER had this issue and cut an entire season of a show on XDCAM… I attached a picture of the issue, it’s a little hard to see but the green speckles don’t stay in one place, they dance around the screen AND they only happen on my video windows, it doesn’t put green speckles all over the rest of my screen, just over the picture… I’m completely baffled as to what this could be and very frustrated. Any ideas?
EDIT: it seems that once I render, the speckles go away so it’s something to do with my RT performance etc.
