I’m working on a DV Pal project on FCP5. I have received these specs:

“For delivery on the web, we require an MPEG-2 program stream file consisting
of muxed (multiplexed) MPEG-2 Video and MP2 Audio in a .mpeg file container.

MPEG-2 Video should be DVD quality or higher. High Definition (720 or 1080)
    resolution is welcomed when available.
MP2 Audio should be 160 kb/s or higher.”

Can I deliver by just sending a DVD made on iDVD or do I need to work differently?

    Thank you for any help.

    Hi Gabriella,
The specs they give you do not match a standard DVD.
you have to decode if you upscale to 720/1080 or not.
If so, I would recommend you to do it in two steps.
First enlarge the picture and de-interlace.
    Then make the MPEG-2.
You can do the MPEG-2 with the MP2 Audio in Compressor.
The Audio it have a ix data-rate that, if I’m not wrong, is 240Kbps.
That used to be the standard.
In the Encoder> Extras, select “Multiplexed Audio..” and the kind of stream.

    Rafael,

Thank you for the answer. I’ve got some questions

“First enlarge the picture and de-interlace”. How do I do this in FCP5?

    “Then make the MPEG-2.
You can do the MPEG-2 with the MP2 Audio in Compressor.”
I have Compressor 2 and I only have DVD PCM audio settings.

this is the first time I’m usign Compressor so I’m a bit lost.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Compressor has a MPEG-2 Program Stream preset that you should check out.

This you better do it with Compressor.
Chose You need to duplicate and modify a QT Preset. Set it 1280×720. Square Pixels. Field Order: Prgressive. the same time-base than your DV sequence ( you haven’t mention if PAL or NTSC).
Choose a good codec. You have no ProRess so if you can use 10b Uncompress or 8b Uncompress. If not PhotoJPEG 90%. Don’t use DV.
In Compressor you need to set the “Frame Control: ON”.
    Resize Filter: Beter.
    Output Fiels: Progressive.
    Deinterlace: Better.
The process will take time but you can get a really good picture. FC can not.
Once you have your QT 720p, you import it again to compressor and you use a High Quality Double Pass MPEG-2 preset.
You need to rise the data-rate. I’m working now with Compressor 3 and i don’t remember the Presets.
You need to look for the option ” Multiplexed MPEG-1/Layer2 Audio”. Is in somewhere ther.

The first post said they accept HD “when available” doesn’t seem to me that they are asking for footage to be up-rez’d.
